About the Role
1. Build new Android features that support the growth and experience of buyers and sellers on the Carousell platform.
2. Work closely with product managers, designers, and Android engineers.
3. Improve Android application performance, reliability, and user experience.
4. Take ownership of projects from design discussions through implementation and deployment.
5. Write clean, modular, and reliable code with unit tests.
6. Participate in code reviews and use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Android application features using Kotlin.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to implement new features.
- Analyze and optimize application performance and reliability.
- Follow Android design principles and best practices.
- Manage projects from initial design discussions to deployment.
- Write clean, modular, and functionally correct code.
- Develop and maintain unit tests.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve development workflows.
Required Qualifications & Eligibility
- Experience developing Android applications using Kotlin.
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals.
- Good understanding of the Android framework, best practices, and design patterns.
- Proven ability to build and ship stable, high-performance Android applications.
- Ability to manage technical complexity and collaborate with client engineers, backend engineers, designers, and product teams.
- Strong user empathy and focus on user experience.
- Good problem-solving, ownership, collaboration, and communication skills.
